Cartridge Waggon / Ammunition Cart
Frederick II. was the first to let catridge waggons advance along with the attacking
infantry in the battle of Leuthen. This made the ammunition supply much easier, at
the risk of a direct hit that could blow up the whole company.
In this battle, the fire power of single men amounted to 180 rounds.
Cartridge Waggon / Ammunition Cart
During the 7-Years war, the prussian 6-pounders got supplied with carts which where
taken from the Austrians in several campaigns, especially after the battle of Leuthen
in winter 1757/58. The ammunition carts were simply repainted.
The ammunition cart here is therefore created according to the artillery- and transport-system
of the Austrian Prince of Liechtenstein. After countless experiments he established
a new generation of the lightest and stabliest guns and carts of the time.
The roof-like cover on the case of the cart, which where common in later times, was
established in the second half of the 7-Years war only for the heavy 12- and 24-pounders
and the mortars.
The Ammunition Cart had four draught horses. We offer two types of draught horses (Horse 12 and Horse 13) that can be found
► here.
